Immersing yourself in a community through volunteer work is a wonderful way to get to know a new place, or an older one even better. Here’s just a few of the ways to contribute and experience the diverse culture of Tillamook County as a volunteer!

Animal Haven by the Sea – Founded by Lee Blackmon back in 2011 to respond to the drastic needs of animals in North Tillamook County. The Rescue needs volunteers in all areas; with experience in writing grant applications, fundraising event coordination, community networking, marketing, & financial management, to name just a few.

Lower Nehalem Community Trust – This beautiful resource is located in Nehalem and offers multiple options for volunteering outside! Work and harvest in the community garden at Alder Creek Farm, assist with elementary school visitors, monitor wildlife or manage the behind the scenes in the office. There’s a place for everyone at the farm and spending time outside is just good for the soul!

Hoffman Center for Arts – Just north of downtown Manzanita, the center has become an artist hub for residents. Volunteers are welcome in all facets and commitment levels. Are you highly skilled in the realms of social media? Do you have a strong leadership drive? Or are you just really good at folding envelopes? Find out where you’d fit best and the Hoffman Center would love to have you.

Emergency Volunteer Corps – Living along the coastline, it is important to prepare for any natural occurrence. The Emergency Volunteer Corps of Nehlalem Bay (EVCNB) offers a multitude of ways to become further educated and involved, on their website. From becoming a neighborhood captain, to organizing supplies or simply lending an extra hand during events.

Nehalem Valley Historical Society – Your chance to delve into the rich cultural history of the Nehalem Valley area. Historical volunteers assist with maintaining online archives, acting as a repository for family items that might otherwise be lost to history and help with display exhibits.
