Rain or shine, Manzanita News & Espresso is a hub of activity on any coastal morning. The owner Starlight Frost, has run the place for over a decade, after taking it over from her mother. Depending on the day, you’ll either find Star or one of her lovely staff members behind the counter; greeting the locals by name, making delicious drinks and always playing great tunes.
There are many things about this local hot spot that make it such a unique part of the community. Firstly keeping Manzanita caffeinated, is a serious job, but that isn’t all the shop does for this town. It also supports the community by showcasing a different local artist each month by hosting their beautiful work on it’s walls.
Along with local artistries, the shop is famous for it’s breakfast sandwiches, quiches and a tempting display of baked deserts, all of which are supplied by Wanda’s Cafe and Bakery, located just a mile south in Nehalem.
The back portion of the shop is dedicated to a wide variety magazines, newspapers, cards, calenders and art related reads. With a crisp paper and a hot drink in hand, the News, as locals would call it, is just about the perfect place to hunker down on a cold and wintery day.
